Wet FGD-Scrubber and Wet-ESP in a 360 MW Thermal Power Plant in China

01.04.2017

In cooperation with one of our partner companies, we performed an extensive CFD optimization study to improve the performance of a wet desulphurization scrubber (FGD) and a wet electrostatic precipitator (ESP). The main challenge was the high goal of reaching up to 98.7% DeSOx efficiency .

Several recommendations followed from the study and allowed the plant operator to reach the set goals. The measures included the choice of appropriate nozzles, the optimum spray bank arrangement and the installation of flow conditioning devices such as vanes, perforated plates and flow rectifiers.
