CFD Optimization of a Wet-Scrubber (FGD) in Spain
We successfully optimized a wet-scrubber in a flue gas desulphurization plant in Spain. The SO2 concentration in the flue gases (1'200'000 Nm3/h) was reduced from 6'000 to 200 mg/Nm3. The multiphase flow in the absorber zone was analyzed by means of a CFD procedure to reproduce the interaction between the gas and dispersed limestone flurry flow.
