Fluidized Bed Boiler Fan Optimization and Retrofit in Switzerland
The fan exhibited operational issues including strong vibration, excessive noise, and unsatisfactory performance, which required frequent unscheduled impeller balancing. The root cause was identified as inadequate airflow guidance at the fan inlet and outlet.
To address these issues, CFD simulations were performed to optimize the flow conditions. The study defined the necessary installations and ductwork modifications to resolve the problems. Based on these findings, the retrofit was subsequently implemented on site by Flowtech personnel.
Following the retrofit, the fan is now operating reliably and efficiently. Energy consumption has been reduced, while vibration and noise levels have decreased significantly.
